Coyote

Common throughout southern Arizona
- Coyotes (Canis Latrans) are a type of canine native to North America
- Smaller than wolves, but larger than foxes
- Coyotes are usually 18–23 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh 10–35 pounds
- Grayish-brown to yellowish-brown fur on top, whitish fur on their underparts, and a bushy tail with a black tip
- Large triangular ears, a long muzzle, a black nose, and yellow eyes
Opportunistic eaters that will eat almost anything, including rabbits, rodents, fish, frogs, deer, insects, snakes, fruit, grass, and carrion
- Breed from mid-January to early March, gestation lasts 63–65 days, and litters typically contain five to seven pups
In the wild, coyotes live 10–14 years
- Run in packs, yip yip yipping at night
- Rumor has it that they like taunting roadrunners!
