Here are some tips from the National Park Service for proper etiquette while hiking ...

  • Know your right of way: Hikers coming uphill have right of way; Bicyclist yield to hikers and horses or other pack stock; Hikers yield to horses or other pack stock
  • Make yourself known
  • Stay on the trail
  • Do not disturb wildlife
  • Be mindful of trail conditions
  • Take time to listen and keep noise to a minimum
  • Be aware of your surroundings
