Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway

- The Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway (also known as the Catalina Highway, Mount Lemmon Highway, or General Hitchcock Highway) is a 27-mile road that connects Tucson to the top of Mount Lemmon and the Summerhaven village on the Santa Catalina Mountains
One of the most scenic highways in Arizona ... and the US, for that matter!
- It is the only paved road that leads to the upper reaches of the Santa Catalina Mountains
- The speed limit is 35 mph or less most of the way up the mountain, due to the curvy roadways and quick rise in elevation
- Driving up to Mount Lemmon can take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on factors such as traffic, road conditions, and how many stops made on the way ... some really great views!
Ascends to 9,000+ feet and offers many scenic turnouts along the way
