- The Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) is a medium-sized songbird

- About 10 inches long, with longer tail feathers than a robin
- Dull gray above with paler underparts, gray-brown feathering on their heads and backs, and white outer tail feathers
- Black and white wings, short, rounded, and broad wings, and two bright white wing patches that are visible in flight
- Known for their loud vocalizations ... they can mimic the songs of many other birds
- Very territorial and will chase off much larger animals, including humans, if they think their nests are being threatened
