- The Chihuahuan raven (Corvus cryptoleucus) is a large, all-black bird that is partway between the size of a common raven and an American crow
- Commonly found in the deserts of the southwestern United States and parts of Mexico
- Often more sociable than common ravens, and can be seen in flocks of hundreds soaring over the plains on warm winter days
- Voice is similar to that of the common raven, with "pruk-pruk" sounds and other croaks at slightly higher pitches
- Also have a caw similar to the call of an American crow but longer and lower in pitch
- Prefer arid deserts and dry, open scrubland
