Fort Bowie National Historic Site

- A 19th-century United States Army outpost in southeastern Arizona
- The fort is now a protected site known as Fort Bowie National Historic Site
- Fort Bowie was established in 1862 and was the center of US military operations against the Chiricahua and Apache warriors until the end of the Indian Wars in 1886
The fort was built on a hill overlooking Apache Spring to protect the pass and spring
- Named after Colonel George Washington Bowie, the regimental commander 
- The fort is a connection to the late 1800s and witnessed nearly 25 years of conflict between the Chiricahua Apache and the US Army
- Visitors can tour the ruins of Fort Bowie, view exhibits in the visitor center, see local wildlife, and attend ranger programs
