Leslie Canyon National Wildlife Refuge


- A 2,770-acre wildlife refuge established in 1988
- Located about 16 miles north of Douglas
- The United States Fish and Wildlife Service manages the refuge
The refuge's main purpose is to protect the habitats of the endangered Yaqui Chub and Yaqui Topminnow
It also protects a rare gallery forest of velvet ash, cottonwood, and black walnut trees
- The refuge is home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, mountain lions, coatimundi, and several bird species
- The refuge began tracking phenology in 2018 to support the Flowers for Bats campaign
