Ring-necked Duck


- The ring-necked duck (Aythya collaris) is a medium-sized diving duck native to North America
- It has a distinctive white ring on the bluish, black-tipped bill, bright yellow eyes, and dark body and wings
- Males are mostly black, while hens are dark brown
- Commonly found in freshwater ponds and lakes, but can also be found in flooded grain fields and forested wetlands throughout southern Arizona
-They eat aquatic plant seeds and tubers, as well as aquatic invertebrates
