-Ironwood is a tough understory tree with beautiful birch-like leaves, grayish-brown flaky bark, fine-textured drooping branches, and attractive hop-like fruits
-The wood of the Ironwood is one of the hardest and heaviest woods in the world ... It is remarkably resistant to rotting, perhaps because its heartwood is rich in toxic chemicals that make it essentially non-biodegradable

This is one really neat tree ... rugged and tough! Nice it can survive, even thrive, in the Arizona desert!
